In the great tradition of “2001: A Space Odyssey”, “The Abyss”, and “Aliens”, “The Europa Report” once again allows us to experience the dream of exploring vast worlds outside of our element, worlds where no person has ever gone before.
Europa, a moon of Jupiter, will be visited for the first time by human beings. The trip is so far away it risks being a one- way journey. We continue to search for evidence that we’re not alone, for planets near us which might support life and, if life exists, how far it has developed. We also record moment by moment to ensure receiving the data, just in case any unforeseen complications occur that may endanger a safe return.
Europa is covered in ice. Therefore this moon might just have the biological ingredients to support life. These astronauts are scientists at the top of their respective fields, exploring the possibilities for the good of mankind’s growth to better understand our universe. The question is, as always, will they adhere to the safety rules put in place for a prudent exploration. If something goes wrong are they equipped to deal with it? Is there water under the thick ice surface of Europa and, if so, is anybody home?
For science fiction enthusiasts and movie-goers alike, “The Europa Report” is a thrilling ride. The score will soothe you with beautiful music while giving you goosebumps at the same time. After experiencing spectacular views of the planets, stars, outer space and the awesomeness of weightlessness, you witness our human curiosity to go beyond the limits of safety, to find out what exists beyond what we know, to discover what might be waiting for us just beyond that mountain or under that rock or, in this case, under the ice.
If you like to experience the fantasy-filled heightened danger of exploring the unknown and the infinite, you will love “The Europa Report.” It is beautifully executed and bone-chilling fun. “The Europa Report” opens August 2, 2013 at a theater near you.
