‘Halloween Party’ a fun new romedy on Itunes
Writer/Director Linda Palmer’s new film, “Halloween Party”, could be penned a Seinfeld styled episode. The plot, in the beginning, seems elusive. That is until we slowly discover it’s course. In time it is clear the scariest creatures appear to be the ones who live within the characters.
This delightful new romedy (romantic comedy), gives us an entertaining evening’s romp filled with a fun cast of stereotypical baby-boomers who are zany, sensual, and at times hilarious.
As the guest arrive in provocative costumes reflecting their youth inspired wit, the wear and tear of affairs, break-ups, careers, marriage;and raising families is all too evident.
The insightful and humorous Linda Palmer, as always, serves us a little bit of wisdom juice with her storytelling. In this narrative, the party punch is richly reminiscent of good ol college friends reunions, expressing their best-remembered selves. As usual, Linda creates sobering checkpoints throughout.
Such is the case of Mason, Played by Frank Gangarossa, as the unintentional homeless quest who is in need of a life renewal. As well as Erin, played by Elle Newlands, a woman in search of a love direction after years of misguided connections; Who just may find her place in the end. Of course not to forget the elusive but constant fortune teller, played by Julia Silverman, who reflects the past and present while projecting a possible future; only to those with eyes to see.
“Halloween Party” at times seems the perfect metaphor as a convenient excuse to compare notes on one’s life determined decisions. While outwardly carefree, letting loose, and having fun through the night, many inward uncoverings and some discoveries of necessary change to the status quo are realized.
So, although there are no ghosts, goblins nor demons at this party, save those that torment from within one’s soul, when with friends who know you, these personal conditions are comically tolerated. Like a brief life reprieve, the party provides a space for safe exploration before going back to reality. Weather to the normal grind or onward towards new development.
The music by, Zuzo Moussawer, is perfect. The ensemble cast are as sassy, delicious, and comically naughty as the costumes are perfectly creative; especially, ( spoiler alert), the economic “character’s genius creation”, of a human mammogram machine. There are also a few featured treats during the credits; Fun.
Another winner from writer/director/ producer, Linda Palmer,”Halloween Party”, is an adult romantic and comic “Tales from a Darker Side”. Now available on Itunes and Amazon.
