The Palm Springs International Film festival is without question among the best of many jewels in Southern California. Hosted once again, as well as for the past ten years; primarily by Mercedes Benz, the PSIFF 2014 celebrates it’s 25th anniversary. Every year Hollywood A Lister’s attend the opening few days of the festival.

This year the PSIFF sported a “who’s who” list of Oscar contenders and festival honorees —— Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson, Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey, Bruce Dern, Brad Pitt Julia Roberts, Lupita Nyong’o, and Meryl Streep; to name a few. There is so much great work this year to be recognized. Listen to Meryl Streep’s Icon Award acceptance speech in this article as she speaks of the current status of the industry.

After all the excitement of the opening ceremonies, PSIFF settled into it’s well organized, comfortably stylish rhythm of quiet radiance. This year’s festival was one of the most publicized openings in the recent history of the festival with over 135,000 film enthusiast attending. The screenings are almost always sold out and often have a second theater screening to accommodate overflow audience from the waiting lines.

The crowd, comprised mostly of grownups, always excitedly anticipates the featured films that are selected and tailored for those audiences who are world class in their thinking and interested in stories that reflect real life experiences.
